3.11.6 Creating a ``hard copy'' of the dot plot

A ``hard copy'' of the dot plot can be created by choosing the ``Create Plot file'' option from the popup menu (IRIS version) or the ``Save outplot file'' option in the X11 version. In the IRIS version, the user is prompted for information at the bottom of the full screen dot plot window. In the X11 version, these prompts appear in the calling window. The prompts are:

  1. ``Enter plot file name''
  2. ``Enter number of levels''

There are no default values. The ``number of levels'' must be between 1 and 9. These correspond to the different colors that will be used in the ``hard copy'' of the dot plot. The plot file that is created can be read by the ``dot2ps'' program (5.5) that produces a PostScript plot file. Currently, this program can take only up to 4 levels.
